PURPOSE AND AUTHORITY

Section 101 Purpose

The zoning regulations and districts as set forth in this ordinance have been made in accordance with a comprehensive plan. These ordinances are designed to avoid congestion of the streets, secure safety from fire, panic, and other dangers, and promote the public health, safety and the general welfare. They are further intended to provide adequate light and air, prevent the over-crowding of land, avoid undue congestion of population, and facilitate the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewerage, parks and other public and quality of life requirements. They have been made with reasonable consideration, among other things, to the character of each district and its peculiar suitability for particular uses, and with a view to conserving the value of buildings and encouraging the most appropriate use of land throughout the Village of Misenheimer and its extraterritorial jurisdiction.

Section 102 Authority

The Village Council of the Village of Misenheimer enacts this ordinance in pursuance of the authority granted by the General Statutes of North Carolina.
